We are co-sponsoring an event in D.C. on Sept 22, 2024 in support of new legislation for the protection of wolves, grizzlies and bison! Please donate to help us achieve our goals for the event!
The mission of Cuetlachtepetl Wolf Mountain Education Center is to heal the bond between people, wolves, and wolf-dogs. Guided by Indigenous cultural values, Cuetlachtepetl provides educational programming, cultural experiences, community support, and opportunities for direct interaction with the animals as a means of restoring the relationship between humans and our relatives of the Wolf Nation.
We envision a world in which wolves and wolf-dogs are able to thrive as vital members of a healthy, balanced ecosystem, as well as respected and protected relatives of humankind. We believe that all living things are our relatives, and by healing the bond between humans and the Wolf Nation, we can help repair and restore our relationship to each other and to Mother Earth.
Health
Our personal health is interconnected with the health of our people and our environment. We practice indigenous ceremonial traditions like smudging, prayer, community connection, and reflection to help restore and maintain our health.
Help
We value giving and receiving help. We humbly ask for guidance from our elders before we make decisions, and we also freely share our resources with our community when asked. We are guided by our relatives from Wolf Nation, who understand that the strength of the wolf can be traced to the power of the pack, and the strength of the pack can be traced to the power of the wolf. We survive by working together.
Healing
Being of service, learning our history and culture, and connecting with our human and animal relatives allow us to help heal as individuals and as a community. Through this we can begin to heal our relationship to Mother Earth.
Happiness
We are grateful for the opportunity to learn from our relatives of Wolf Nation. By restoring our bond to the animals, we receive the gift of their wisdom and presence. We are happiest when we can meaningfully and respectfully coexist with all our relatives on Mother Earth.
Your support helps us feed the animals, maintain the property, improve enclosures, and create better learning experiences!
Check out our regularly updated events for volunteer action days, meditations at the property, educational presentations, and other community events!
Everyone that comes onto the property will be smudged with sage to cleanse any negative or unnecessary energy that we may be carrying with us. It is a simple but intentional act of burning sage and letting the smoke pass over and around you, it is one that is very important to us. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
